Builders and Learners invited August-September 2024!
Earthseed Ecovillage in southern Vermont is seeking human power this August & September to contribute to our initial building sprint.
Join us in your tent, van, or tiny home for a week or more to lend a hand in the construction of our communal structure, small buildings/huts/treehouses/hobbit-holes/saunas, an outdoor oven, and perhaps some other unexpectedly obscure interesting projects that you may be bringing to our attention.
Creativity is welcome and celebrated – we are all about funky, fun, circles, live-edge, and radical design that questions everything. We are looking to dramatically bring the costs of shelter down and the quality of life and communal connection they engender way up!
Our sawmill and โquarryโ will produce most of what we need to build with in addition to stockpile of salvaged and donated materials.
Along the way, we are hoping to refine our way of living and working together and perhaps find some of the others that can help us be the change our world needs right now.
The human species is a kind of animal, of course. But we can do something no other animal species has ever had the option to do. We can choose: We can go on building and destroying until we either destroy ourselves or destroy the ability of our world to sustain us. Or we can make something more of ourselves. We can grow up. We can leave the nest. We can fulfill the Destiny, make homes for ourselves among the stars, and become some combination of what we want to become and whatever our new environments challenge us to become. Our new worlds will remake us as we remake them. And some of the new people who emerge from all this will develop new ways to cope. Theyโll have to. That will break the old cycle, even if itโs only to begin a new one, a different one.
We moved on to 400+ acres of land this June and have set up the basic soft infrastructure needed for summer and fall. We have a tented outdoor kitchen, a movement and dance tent, a spring-fed water line, and numerous deep pools along the Peace Brook that runs through the land to rejuvenate or rebirth you as needed. We have a suite of heavy equipment and tools along with a library of business plans and are looking to launch numerous synergistic worker-owned and run cooperatives that you could possibly help found.

If any of this speaks to you, email us at [email protected] with โInterested Builder!โ in the subject line. We will send you a short application and set up a call to get to know each other.
If you would love to support us and are not able to show up in person, consider supporting our Materials Fund on Patreon, which directs your donation directly to the materials we will need to build our projects. Even just $15 a month from 80% of the people in our contact list, those who have shown interest and desire to help – would add up to a few thousand and would be a huge help.
