On the ground
The “building” projects for this spring and summer are:
- improve and widen our current road
- fix up the bridge by creating an alternative culvert
- dig out and build the first communal house’s foundation (Did you know we have full approval for two 9-bedroom houses!? Shall we have a raffle on who gets to move in?)
- bring down and skin 45 tall trees for tripod-lashing for our first building
- mill the trees to create the building materials
Of course, we would love to do more and hope to have the communal house built and moved-in by winter by at least a few of us, but we also want to build thoughtfully, collaboratively, in joy – not just rush to get things done.
Other projects on the land that could use help and tending are:
- gardening & permaculture: design & implementation: we have just planted some seeds this new moon, and more to come. And Falcon has a bunch of garlic to proliferate!
- outdoor bathrooms of humanure and composting style
- a few tent platforms for an extended stay, perhaps some 3-season tree houses if anyone is interested? Keya would be your best buddy!
- outdoor kitchen setup and maybe even staffing, if we have a big enough team
- perhaps babysitting or homeschooling if/when we have enough kids on the land to get in trouble without some supervision
- and lots of openness to other projects and ideas
Remote Help
And, if you are unable to get yourself out here – we would be grateful for
- Spreading the word about this (here is our FB post you could share)
- Posting on FB and other social media platforms about this and other events this summer – Aliona, who has been helping with this, will be away cultivating herself for a few months at MAPLE and unable to keep creating flyers and posts, so we need another creative(s)!
- Website support! We have pages to create, buttons to make, landing pages to populate, polls to roll out… It doesn’t have to be done as urgently – but it feels sooo satisfying to have a beautiful informative website to share, and we are eager to make it awesome!
- Polishing the wording of our Vision and Mission documents
- Perhaps you have other skills or ideas you may offer?
Doesn’t this sound exciting!? Living in beautiful mountains and working with other like-minded peoples towards building a break-through community, towards a better, kinder, more caring world? And – practicing all that: kindness, care, relating, cooperating, dancing, singing, living together in a manner that we want the world to be. It’s not so much about the work we do, as – discovering and embodying a culture we want to see all around, and stumbling, and supporting each other, and learning, and connecting, and thriving…
