Earthseed July update: We have landed! 🏡

Huck's Herb Garden
The beebalm from Huck’s family land in Richmond, VT has successfully migrated to Earthseed! And so did many other herbs and plants that Huck so lovingly brought and planted on the land in May. Thank you, Huck!

We have landed, people!

We are writing to you from our outdoor kitchen on the Earthseed land – we officially moved onto the land on June 15. With the move to the land past us, the gardens (almost) planted, the tents raised, the first bear visit thwarted, the outhouse equipped with Logger’s First Aid kit and tick spray, and our initial infrastructure set up, we are sitting with the feeling that “It is time now that we thrive” ~ as goes in a favorite song of ours, “We shall be known” by Mamuse here and our much less harmonized version of it here 🙂

Now that we are here, it is an interesting process in discovering and establishing the practices we want to engage into as a community. It is important that they are not “must do” kind but the kind that nourishes both our connection with each other and the land, and our inner being. So far, that looks like Contemplative Movement for an hour or so before lunch on most days. It can easily turn into circling, yoga, contact improv, meditation or something else we can’t even foresee right now. It feels delicious so far to be in this practice and in this mystery of what it may become. And to share this commitment for an hour each day with each other.

We also welcome Aurore to the land! Freshly from Guadeloupe, she is bringing her fun spirit, deep knowing of inner worlds and embodiment practices, spontaneous dances, lovely French accent and playfulness to share with us all. Welcome!

We are looking forward to members and partners joining us in the coming weeks and months. We have two work-parties planned in July, which will include small construction projects as an attunement and prep for “the big build” – the communal house project, which we will break ground for in August. So, everyone – prepare for August-October all-hands support on the land! And join in July, if you can, to get to know us and each other beforehand.

We look forward to welcoming you on the land, so you can experience for yourself the sounds of this land, the beauty of these stars, the smell of this fire, the hugs of this community and the practices to nourish our spirit together! And feast on the abundant delicious blackberries that are beginning to come in!

Joyful summertimes to you! 🌞
