Water is life. Community is home.
The WHY behind the well and septic is the need for the creation of the stable heart and hearth of our communal infrastructure ~ the common houses, the core of our neighborhood, to provide a secure base from which a resilient and adaptable community can grow.
It will also enable us to host more visitors and villagers, offering communal spaces with a certified public water supply system that can handle an influx of humans.
Earthseed Ecovillage is planting a deep root: we are raising $30,000 through solidarity loans and donations to drill our first well and build two septic systems for the first of two common houses.
The state permits and site plans are already completed. With this infrastructure in place, our community will be able to welcome more residents, grow more food, and deepen our relationship with this abundant enchanted land.
A solidarity loan is an act of trust, reciprocity, and kinship. You lend to us now, and we return your support with care, gratitude, and repayment over time. Your support will ripple into gardens, kitchens, childrenโs laughter, and gatherings around the fire for generations to come. Your support could help us fulfill our grand mission to be an evolving demonstration community that seeds systemic change from the grass roots up.
Why a solidarity loan?
- Itโs a loan repaid on clear terms optimized for the needs of the lender and the capacity of Earthseed. Loan repayment begins after the number of years that is satisfactory to the lender. If that can be ten years, then great. If it needs to be sooner, that is fine, too. See a sample agreement.
- Your money stays circulating in the community, strengthening a regenerative, land-based project.
- Unlike banks, solidarity loans keep wealth cycling among people, and eliminate middlemen.
- Option for an Equity-Accruing Solidarity Loan as a way to build equity in the project.
Impact of Your Loan:
- Secure, clean, abundant water for residents and visitors with the potential to be cost-effectively up-certified to a public water supply in the future if required.
- Provide approved sanitation to support community health and legal compliance. Septics will be primarily used for low-nutrient grey water return to the land.
- Enable the growth of housing, food production, and membership.
